The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia participated in the preparation of the Future Trends Report for Geospatial Information Management, which was recently released by UN-GGIM (Five to Ten Years Vision), which was approved at the Committee's tenth annual meeting this month.
This report focuses on the importance of geospatial information in decision-making and its influencing role on the quality of life and the achievement of the 2030 sustainable development plans, which includes future directions for managing geospatial information (the five to ten years’ vision), and covers the main areas related to geospatial information., which are: trends in geospatial information management, future digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence, big data and technical analytical data, future trends in data creation, management and development of policies and legislation, skills requirements and training mechanisms, the role of the private sector and non-governmental sectors, the future role of governments in providing geospatial data and their management, as well as in the requirements of future users.
