H.E the Mayor of the Holy Capital, Engineer Muhammad bin Abdullah Al-Quwaihs, launched today the application of the field inventory and updating the geographical data of Makkah to complete the development of tools for inventorying the sites of parks, shops and landmarks in Makkah Al-Mukarrmah and collecting their data through the Geographic Information System Centre in the Municipality of the Holy City; To enable municipalities and the Commission for Land Control and Infringement Removal to identify and raise infringement sites on geographical databases and to make use of them in various applications in order to enhance the preservation of lands and development axes in the Holy Capital.
The Director General of the GIS Centre in the Municipality, Eng. Issam bin Ali Tarimi, explained that the initiative is the first of its kind at the level of the Kingdom's secretariats, as it enables observers to record the encroachment on lands electronically and to upload coordinates directly to the database in order to promote digital transformation and modern electronic transactions.
And he indicated that the work was analysed and the application of the infringement inventory was published on the geographical portal of Makkah Al-Mukarrmah, and the necessary powers were granted to the employees of the associated sub-municipalities and the Commission for Land Control and Infringement Removal, so that they could monitor, draw and submit field reports of infringement sites, through interactive maps.
