Final meeting of committee to launch the National Geospatial Centre

Under the patronage of HE Dr. Abdulaziz Ibn Ibrahim Al-Saab, President of the General Commission for Survey (GCS), on Wednesday, 31/11 / 1440H (31/7/2019), at the headquarters of the GCS in Riyadh (Final meeting of committee to launch the National Geospatial Centre) To contribute to the governance of the geospatial and information sector at the national level. Governance contributes to the clear distribution of tasks and responsibilities, the unification of efforts, the minimization of waste in financial and human resources, the optimization of resources and the avoidance of duplication of projects in the sector. which in turn contributes to the development process in the Kingdom and achieve the economic and development orientation of the vision of the Kingdom 2030.

The President of GCS welcomed the representatives of the government sectors, the members of the launch the National Geospatial Centre and the Geospatial Information Management Committee, and thanked them for their active participation in the Geospatial data management process during the period (May - July). Nearly 60 governments, academic and private sectors attended the workshops. More than 850 participants participated in the establishment of Geospatial classes.


The final meeting included an overview of the collection and dissemination of geospatial data through a review of the mechanism and the efforts made by the Committee to collect data available to government and private agencies in Makkah Al-Mukarramah and the holy sites and to publish them on the national geospatial platform for use in Hajj. geospatial relations between government agencies through an example of the application of Mecca Al-Mukarramah and the holy places.
A number of international consultants and experts reviewed the next steps and the future plan in collecting the paths of the committee, which is expected to complete the full data of the Kingdom within 6 months.
In conclusion, The President of GCS thanked the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman Ibn Abdulaziz and the Crown Prince, Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Chairman of the GCS Board of Directors Affairs for their continuous support to all sector activities. The Minister of commerce and investment and the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs in charge of the Chairman of the Executive Committee for Improving the Performance of Business in the Private Sector Dr. Majid Ibn Abdullah Al Qassabi for his continuous support and the formation of the launching committee of the launch the National Geospatial Centre for the development and advancement of the sector.
